I got my Nikon D40 a few weeks ago and all I can say is I'm amazed. This is my first DSLR camera and I couldn't be happier! I'm going to make a direct thank you to Ken Rockwell - without his guidance through his site (which is a public service he provides out of his own pocket) which can be found at KenRockwell.com, he's helped me choose the D40 over 3 other models as my first camera. He has given me more than enough material online for me to comfortably get started in photography and for that, he rules.

I've been out and about and taken a few photos but I'm really gearing towards going on serious days out. I've had enough of Manchester, I would have loved to take some scenery photographs but due to consistantly poor weather here it's just impossible - hence indoor shots will be in abundance until Summer (or February when I'll be taking snowboarding photos in Bulgaria).

One more thing, I'd like to thank ~roy204 & ~lewcid for their Photography Class that helped me understand Depth of Field, Aperture and Focal Length much much more.
